From this trailer of the film 'Warm Bodies' I am going to discussing aspects such as sound, mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing, choice of titles, narrative, genre, casting and company credits. The reason for going in depth on this trailer is so that I can get ideas and so that I can understand what consists of a film trailer.

Two zombie one being 'R' and the other the audience are told via voice over is R's best friend, sit down beside each over and do not have the capability to talk as they are not human but are soulless bodies, and instead they just look at each over and grunt, supporting the previous point that can not convey emotion or simple things such as pronouncing words. Also, by the audience being told that 'R' has a best friend comes across quite ironic taking in to consideration that zombies are perceived to be soulless and cant do what humans do, but this zombie considers this zombie to be his best friend, making 'R' individual and breaks the stereotype.

With any stereotypical romantic comedy the music is parallel with the story plot. It always starts with simple sad music but as the trailer moves on it becomes more uplifting which matches the story plot as this dead-hearted zombie boy becomes more human because of this female he meets.

In this trailer we see the boy 'R' wearing a plain ripped and dirty hooded jacket with a t shirt and tatty jeans, this represents his brain dead simplistic zombie nature. The audience are also shown a security guard still in his uniform but again the uniform is very dirty and has holes in it, still portraying the stereotypical zombie.

We see a close up on this boys face to see the vains and abnormal features which states proof that his is a zombie. A long shot of the worse zombies and we can see that they dont wear any clothing to show that they have no chance of becoming human again. A mid of the humans which reveals that they are wearing normal fashionable cloths.

It says 'This February' so this lets the audience know that the film is coming out soon and also lets the people know when to go and watch it. It also says 'Love' which again reiterates the point that their is going to be a lot of romance and love throughout the film.

The narrative that we can take from this trailer is that it is a rom-zom-com. There is a zombie boy who is just walking around doing zombie activities and having a pretty much pointless life. Until he meets a young beautiful girl who he falls in love with. As we all know zombie's are cold hearted and don't have feelings, although when he meets this girls something spectacular and magical happens...his heart beats showing that he has not fully turned zombified and has a hope to be human again. This girl is his chance to become human again therefore making her a key part of this film. This gets the audience attached to this zombie 'R' and to feel sympathy for him. This film is in a sentence is a film about love and the human tenacity to reach our goals, and become where we want to be and go out and get what we want. We can tell that this film will be about this young boy and this girls love, life and how the fight through everything and everyone against them to defy all odds and be together.

The genre of this film is a zom-com as it involves zombie's and a lot of of comedy involved throughout most scenes.

For the zombie a young man looks about 18 has been chosen for this part. The reason for this is so the audience can feel related to the character and also feel sympathy for this character because he is only young and he is a flesh eating zombie. For the young girl that the zombie boy falls in love with, they have casted a younger girl to appeal to the younger audience, also they have chosen a beautiful blonde hair blue eyed girl, the aryan race type of girl. If you ask the majority of people this is the most attractive and prestigious features you can get in a woman therefore the audience will love this female actress making them subconsciously love the film.

Near the start it shoes us the logo of 'Summit Entertainment' and summit are know for their world renowned movies. This gains warm bodies a pre sold audience as whoever likes or watches Summit Entertainment will go and watch this movie, that is why it is key to have such a world-renowned production company involved with your film.

This young mans voice is used for the voice over. He has a very soft and kind voice juxtaposing to what the stereotypical zombie voice would sound like. Giving hope for this brain dead zombie! Also by having this zombie as the voice over shows to the audience that there is this trapped human inside of this zombie body...creating an attachment with this zombie and the audience.

  1. This is a nice post Joe, could you find a more interactive way to present your write up rather than a big blog of text though? Your blog isn't bad so far, but you must start to add your evaluation questions and check the blog checklist to make sure you have all of the aspects covered.
